Tips for Staying Healthy in Winter

When the temperature drops, it seems like everyone is coughing, sneezing and sniffling more. While the cold weather may not be directly linked to illnesses, certain factors can weaken our immune system like staying inside more with dry and recycled air. The shorter, gloomier days can also make us feel down. Here are some tips for staying healthy both physically and mentally this winter.

Tips for Staying Healthy in Winter

Stay Hydrated

It can be hard to remember to drink enough water when you’re cold. Try adding electrolytes to your water for an extra boost.

Eat Nutritious Food

Eat lots of fruits, veggies, protein and healthy fats. It can be tempting to stock up on sweets around the holidays. Many people tend to indulge more over the holidays but try to stick to a healthy diet overall. There are also a lot of healthy swaps you can make.

Movement

Try to get in at least 30 minutes of exercise per day. If safe, go outdoors! Just make sure you’re wearing the right clothing to protect yourself.

Get Enough Sleep

Getting a good night’s sleep is so important for health and wellness. During the winter and holidays life can get more stressful, so remember to prioritize sleeping.

Supplement When Necessary

Most supplements we recommend in the winter deal with boosting the immune system. Vitamin C and Zinc are both good ones to take daily. Also, since the days are shorter and gloomier, and we spend more time indoors than usual, Vitamin D is a good supplement to take in the winter.
